Maude Beamer Tenney

	Maude Beamer Tenney was born on March 2, 1908 in Milton Freewater, Oregon, the youngest daughter of Samuel Mark Beamer and Julia Anne Jones, both of North Carolina.  Maude was the valedictorian of her graduating class at the Kimberly High School in Idaho.  while at Gooding College, she met her future husband Charles D. Tenney.  She graduated from Gooding College, Gooding, Idaho with a BA degree in English and taught high school until he finished his degrees, then they moved to Carbondale in 1931.
	Maude was a member of the SIU Faculty Women's Club, a Charter member of the JN Chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood and the  Carbondale Women's Club.  She was a Gray Lady of the Red Cross and a founding member of the community  Concert Association for which she donated many hours of service and also to many other charitable activities.
	She was an ardent bridge player and beloved by many.  Maude Tenney is survived by Ruth Tenney Kerwath and her husband Richard, Helen Tenney Naumer and by nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother Frank Beamer and a sister Katherine Wonacott.
	Mrs. Tenney died at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 5, 2001 at Parkway Manor, Marion, Ill. The funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, July 9, 2001 at Huffman-Harker Funeral Home.  The visitation was from 12 Noon until time of service on Monday.
	Burial at Oakland Cemetery was private.
	Donations may be made to the SIU-C Foundation to the Charles D. and Maude B. Tenney endowment fund for the benefit of Morris Library, Liberal Arts.
